Introducing the C2C Certified® Listed Facility Program: A new path to scalable sustainable manufacturing and certification

For companies working to bring Cradle to Cradle Certified® products to market, we are making it efficient and impactful with a powerful new offering: the C2C Certified® Listed Facility Program. Designed to reward companies that have already invested in and have documented their sustainable operations, the program streamlines the path to certifying multiple products in a manufacturing facility, saving significant time and cost along the way.

One verified facility, multiple certification opportunities

The program creates a listing of manufacturing facilities that have been independently assessed and verified to meet the facility-specific requirements under Version 5.0 of the C2C Certified® Product Standard (Full Scope). These requirements apply to the manufacturing processes across the entire facility – not just the subset involved in making a single or a specific range of certified products.

Once a facility earns its listing, any product made there can move through the C2C Certified® certification process without additional facilities-level data collection, an in-person site visit, and verification of the facility requirements. This saves time and cost for both the certifying brand and the facility owner.

Both brand-owned facilities and contract manufacturers are eligible. Companies may also choose to have their verified facilities featured on our website, helping showcase their commitment to sustainable manufacturing.

Why does this matter?

The benefits of our new Listed Facility Program are practical and significant:

  • It dramatically reduces audit fatigue, which is a real barrier for companies certifying multiple product lines.

  • It creates a powerful scaling incentive: brands can more easily certify additional products made at the same facility, and contract manufacturers gain a marketable credential that signals readiness to prospective clients.

  • It raises the visibility and reputation of facilities that have made serious investments in sustainable operations.

When will the Program launch and how much does it cost?

While we will begin accepting applications in September, companies can already start the process by working with a Cradle to Cradle Certified® Conformity Assessment Body.

The program runs on a three-year listing cycle. All facilities pay a listing fee of $3,900 / €3,600 covering the full three years, plus an annual fee if the facility owner doesn't already pay one.

To encourage early adoption, the Institute is offering a 50% discount on the listing fee for the first 12 months after launch, and no annual fee for the first three years for facilities owned by companies that do not yet have an active product certification.

The bigger picture

This program reflects a broader shift in how sustainability certification can work at scale. Rather than treating each product certification as an isolated event, we are building infrastructure that rewards systemic investment. This makes it easier and more economical for manufacturers to scale certification and grow their commitment to circular, materials-healthy production.
