Sebastian Häfele
Director– Certification
Sebastian Häfele is Certification Director at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. He is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day certification program technical operations and also serves as the Product Circularity technical leader for the Institute.
Before joining the Institute in 2021, Sebastian was a Technical and Program Specialist for the Sustainable Biomass Program and a Senior Lead Auditor for sustainable forestry chain-of-custody programs at SCS Global Services in California. In this role he helped develop and maintain management systems for a certification program, created training and guidance materials, and conducted training for staff, external auditors, and clients. After relocating to Germany, he founded his own consulting business offering services such as auditing, certification program maintenance, and development and technical review. As an ISO 9001 certified auditor, Sebastian has conducted audits in California, the Southeastern US, Canada, Latvia, and Germany. Prior to joining the world of certification, he worked in research institutes dedicated to renewable energies and climate change impacts, including the application of life-cycle assessments. Sebastian holds a Diploma degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Bayreuth.
