SLCP & C2CPII join forces to reduce duplication and drive greater impact

The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII) and the Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to align efforts in reducing audit duplication and advancing data convergence across the textile sector.

SLCP & C2CPII join forces to reduce duplication and drive greater impact

Through this strategic partnership, SLCP’s Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) will be recognized as an accepted data source to meet the social fairness requirements of Cradle to Cradle Certified® (C2C Certified®) Standard. This allows companies to use SLCP data to demonstrate compliance with C2CPII requirements, reducing duplicative audits and enabling brands and suppliers to unlock efficiencies and redirect resources toward meaningful improvements.

A partnership built on common goals

SLCP is a multi-stakeholder initiative that tackles audit fatigue by offering a universal social assessment tool - the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF)- that delivers credible and actionable data designed to support human rights due diligence implementation and enable collaborative action.

C2CPII leverages its globally recognised C2C Certified® Product Standard to help companies design products that benefit both people and the planet. It encourages circular design, healthy materials, and fair working conditions. As part of its commitment to social fairness, companies are required to demonstrate that workers are treated fairly and that they uphold strong social practices throughout their supply chains. By recognising SLCP’s CAF as a valid tool to meet these requirements, C2CPII further drives convergence within the industry. This acceptance streamlines the path to certification for suppliers and brands alike, enabling companies to focus on meaningful improvement actions.

The impact of working together

The recognition of SLCP’s CAF to meet C2CPII’s social fairness criteria brings tangible benefits to the industry:

  • Reduced audit fatigue: Suppliers can now use SLCP data to meet C2CPII’s social fairness requirements, eliminating the need for duplicative audits and saving time and resources.

  • Greater alignment: This collaboration fosters industry-wide harmonisation, making it easier for brands to navigate compliance and certification landscapes.

  • Credibility and efficiency: By leveraging credible data that SLCP provides to meet C2CPII requirements, companies gain trustworthy social compliance information to support more informed decision-making.

  • Accelerated sustainability: Less duplication means more time and investment in improving working conditions and advancing circularity goals.

This partnership is a testament to what’s possible when two leading initiatives come together to simplify compliance and amplify progress. If you’re unsure whether your SLCP data meets the requirements under this collaboration, or if you’d like to explore how it applies to your products or facilities, please don’t hesitate to contact us or reach out to SLCP.
