Cradle to Cradle Certified® recognized in Australia’s building scheme Green Star
Cradle to Cradle Certified® Version 3.1 and Version 4.0 are recognized under the Responsible Products Framework with Green Star.
The vision of the Framework is to drive the supply chain to deliver transparent, healthy, low-impact and net zero carbon products that are part of a circular economy. The Framework outlines criteria for scoring how ‘responsible’ a product is, to support the built environment industry in adapting to and driving this change.
Green Star Buildings
Products using recognized product certification schemes or initiatives are awarded under four credits in Green Star Buildings:
Responsible Structure
Responsible Envelope
Responsible Finishes
Responsible Systems
In Green Star Buildings, there are two levels of compliance for products known as ‘Good Practice’ or ‘Best Practice’ products.
We are pleased to announce that Version 3.1 and Version 4.0 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program are now both recognized under the Responsible Products Framework with Green Star.
Under Version 4.0, products that are certified at the Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze level and above achieve Good Practice, and above the silver level achieve Best Practice in the Responsible Structure, Responsible Envelope, Responsible Systems, and Responsible Finishes categories.
Under Version 3.1, products that are certified at the Cradle to Cradle Certified Basic, Bronze, or Silver level achieve Good and Best Practice when combined with other initiatives (such as an EPD), while version 3.1 Gold and Platinum certified products achieve Good and Best Practice in the Responsible Structure, Responsible Envelope, Responsible Systems, and Responsible Finishes category by themselves.
Visit the website of the Green Building Council Australia here for more information on the Green Star Responsible Products Framework and the official recognition status for Cradle to Cradle Certified in each credit.
The recognition marks a significant step for the growth of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program in Australasia, accelerating climate and circularity action across real assets in the region.
