The Mecho®/5 manual shade with EcoVeil® shadecloth is the first complete window-covering system to be Cradle to Cradle Certified(CM). Evaluated against stringent certification criteria for its impact on human and environmental health, the system is classified by MBDC as a technical nutrient. Both the Mecho®/5 manual shade and EcoVeil® shadecloth can be broken down and brought back into industry as a material resource for new products and systems, forever to be circulated in a closed-loop cycle.
More than just recyclable, the Mecho®/5 System enables buildings to be more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Its shadecloth, EcoVeil®, minimizes solar-heat gain, excessive brightness, and annoying glare from direct sunlight. The material has antifungal properties and low measurable VOCs (volatile organic compounds). And its open weave allows for visual transparency, providing building occupants with vitally important outdoor views. The following shadecloths are included in the certified system: EcoVeil Naturals 8050 and EcoVeil Screens 0950, 1350, and 1550 Series.
The shadecloth is complemented by the system's intelligent hardware design. It's easy to install, operates smoothly, and can include a variety of accessories such as fascia, pockets, closures, and side channels for room-darkening conditions.
